HOLIDAY HELPING HANDS
Backpack Program Collection
For kids in our area who may not have enough to eat on the weekends we support the Back pack program. Backpacks with food are filled for children who qualify and handed out at school. Donations are always welcome to help defer the cost of each month. It is approximately 30.00 a month and is delivered the 2nd and 4th Friday of each month. This is a wonderful program to be a part of and hope we will continue to have the support of the congregation and community. Any questions please call the church office at 412-372-5370.
WARM UP AMERICA
We’re still accepting 7” by 9” knitted or crocheted blocks to be given to Warm Up America where they’ll be joined to make afghans that will be distributed to nursing homes, hospitals, and to homeless folks. They can be given to Nancy Rogers!
For several months, five of our ladies crocheted or knitted about 250 5" x 7" blocks that were taken to Pat Catan's where they, along with thousands of blocks from other folks, were joined to make afghans. (It takes 49 blocks to make an adult-size afghan.) 179 afghans were created and distributed to a nursing home in Renton, to Pathway Shelter, to a veterans' home, to Forbes Hospice, 26 for babies, and several to homeless people in Pittsburgh. Thank you Ruth, Libby, Janet, Karen, and Nancy for helping provide warmth and comfort to a lot of people.
