MONTHLY CELEBRATION HOUR

NEXT DATE: April 21, 2024

Events, Projects, and More:

Livestream -  This may come as a surprise to those who don't use our video service, but our livestream hasn't been working. We are still working on fixing it. The services are being recorded and posted to our YouTube page after service. Please check back for updates. Any questions please contact the office.

New Church Tee-Shirts-  We will begin taking orders for church shirts this Sunday, April 7 th  before and after the 8 AM and 10:30 AM services.  We will continue taking orders on April 14, April 21, and April 28 before and after both services. The deadline for ordering is April 29.   You will also be able to order your shirts in the church office.  We do request payment at the time of your order.  Excel Sportwear did a wonderful job designing the shirts for us.  Once the order is turned in on or around April 30, it will take approximately two weeks for delivery of our shirts.  Thank you in advance for your purchases!  The shirts are a great way to show our unity in Christ and will help in inviting people to our church.

Intergenerational Gathering -  Our April Intergenerational Gathering will take place on Sunday, April 14 from 5:00 – 7:00 PM. We start with a meal in Fellowship Hall then move into a time of discipleship. All are welcome to join!

Diaper Collection Drive-  The Level Green Presbyterian Church will be hosting a diaper collection drive on Saturday, May 11, from 10:00a.m. – 12:00p.m. in their parking lot. The drive-thru event will benefit the Western Pennsylvania Diaper Bank. The Western Pennsylvania Diaper Bank works to collect and distribute diapers to families in need. It is the region’s only diaper bank and last year
served 13,000 families in communities across three counties, including Westmoreland. They are reaching out and expanding for 2024 and will now be helping to bring diapers to families in eight counties in Western Pennsylvania.

The church is encouraging individuals, families, co-workers, community groups and clubs, teams, and other local churches to start collecting now and join together with them to celebrate and honor all mothers on Mother’s Day weekend by making a donation that will greatly help a new Mom.

Diapers can be very expensive for new parents. They are not an item that’s covered by most assistance programs. 1 in 2 families struggle to be able to afford diapers for their babies.

All diaper sizes are being collected. Diapers in sizes 4/5/6 and pull ups
for potty training are the most requested at the Diaper Bank. Boxes of baby wipes will also be collected. All donations of diapers and baby wipes must be unopened.
The Diaper Bank is also able to make purchases of diapers in bulk. Any monetary donations that are received at the collection drive will be given to the Diaper Bank for this purpose.
Anyone who is unable to make it to the collection drive event is also welcome to bring their donations to the church’s Mother’s Day worship services on Sunday, May 12 at 8:00a.m. & 10:30a.m.

Save The Date For Lunch-  Please join us for a Spring Potluck Luncheon on Sunday, April 28, following the 10:30a.m. worship service. Please bring a salad, hot or cold side dish, casserole, main dish, or dessert to share.  It's a potluck so every favorite food is welcome!  The Deacons will be
providing some baked ham and macaroni and cheese for our buffet table.  Bring a friend or neighbor with you to enjoy lunch and share in the fellowship of our Spring Potluck.

Craft Group Intrest-  Are you interested in string crafts? Projects like crochet, knitting, paracord, embroidery, or more. Are you interested in learning how these are done? Or maybe you just want some company as you work on your project. Would you want to  meet in a group?
Contact Elizabeth Kuhns at media.lgpc@qmail.com with your name, contact, and availability to meet up. You can also add what craft you do and how often you'd like to meet.
Lyz is also willing to teach the crafts they know to others who would want to learn.

Presbyterian Women Project-  Did You Know?  Those little translucent orange plastic (#5) pill bottles are not accepted by our local recyclers and are adding to the immense amount of plastics in landfills?  But, we have a solution for that problem.  Presbyterian Women has receptacles at both
entrances to the sanctuary where you can leave the bottles and we'll pass them along to a recycling center or a charity that can use them. #5  plastic OTC medicine bottles can be recycled, too.  At present, we have the name of an organization in Ohio that upcycles them, but we're looking for an organization closer to home.  Questions?  Call  Nancy Rogers at 412-372-3397.  Dont leave a message as the machine is not working. P.S.   PLEASE INCLUDE THE BOTTLE LIDS!

Mission Project -  The Lois Ruth Circle is collecting plastic grocery bags (Shop &Save, Giant Eagle, Walmart, etc.) for a mission project that makes mats for the homeless out of the bags. The mats stay dry because they are made of plastic. There is a basket at each entrance to the sanctuary for the collection of the bags. Thank you for your support!

Announcements:

Support Our Troops  As many of you know, member Greg Martz has recently been deployed to Africa for a period of nine months as a Captain in the Army National Guard. We will be shipping a monthly box of cards to support Greg and our troops. We have supplied a box of note cards and color pages for you to use or you may use some of your own. Please drop off your cards in the U. S. Flag bin located in the sanctuary. Please address your envelope to: “Captain Greg Martz” or “A Special Soldier”. Greg will be sure to distribute the “Special Soldier” envelopes to those who need a special note from home. Thank you!  The Martz & Taylor families

Worship Helpers - We need Greeters, Ushers, and Liturgists. It has been a long time since we were able to do this and our list is starting from scratch. Greeters no longer need to take attendance, just say “Good Morning” and hand out bulletins. Please call the office and let us know when you can help. Please write a note on the Fellowship Pad if you are willing to help.

Asst. Treasurer - We are looking for someone to be a back up for some of the duties performed by the Assistant Treasurer. Please let the office know if you are interested.
